Look what the experts have to say about Sheriff Jim Kaelin....
Caller Times gives its endorsement to Sheriff Jim Kaelin.
The Editorial Board recommends the re-election of Sheriff Jim Kaelin. Kaelin has performed (his) job to the benefit of the public and the public should continue to enjoy (his) good services.
Kaelin, a Republican, has done the job he was elected to do: clean up the mess at the county jail. The facility was below standards when he was elected two years ago and its condition had prompted the U.S. Marshal's office to remove its federal prisoners from the facility. The jail's substandard condition was not only a significant revenue loss to county government, about $2 million a year, but a civic embarrassment. Under Kaelin's oversight, the rust, the mold, the leaky showers and unsanitary conditions at the jail have been removed. He is committed to maintaining the facility and has instituted procedures aimed at that goal. The Democratic challenger, Jesse Mark Flores, a member of the jail staff, doesn't have the credentials to handle the sheriff's job, the biggest in the county simply on the basis of budget, $18 million. Voters should re-elect Kaelin. (View the video link below for editorial board comments.)

We The People Monthly News
In the last election we supported Democrat Jimmy Rodriguez who was defeated by who we have come to believe is a great Sheriff, Jim Kaelin. He plays by the rules, he doesn't play politics, is totally professional, supports his troops, and finished cleaning up the jail. (He gives credit to Larry Olivarez and Rodriguez for getting it started.) Kaelin has a rational and progressive view of what law enforcement should and should not be responsible for. He has our complete support.
